Electronics Assembly Technician

Job Summary

The Electronics Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and inspecting electronic components and subassemblies in accordance with engineering specifications, schematics, and work instructions. This role supports manufacturing operations by producing high-quality electronic products while adhering to safety, quality, and efficiency standards. The position requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, basic technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively in a structured production environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assemble electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, and soldering equipment
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and written work instructions
  • Perform mechanical and electrical assembly of cables, connectors, enclosures, and wiring harnesses
  • Conduct visual inspections and basic functional testing to ensure assemblies meet quality standards
  • Identify, document, and report defects or discrepancies; perform rework or repairs as instructed
  • Use test equipment such as multimeters, continuity testers, and basic diagnostic tools
  • Follow established quality control procedures and maintain accurate production and inspection records
  • Adhere to ESD, safety, and clean-room or workspace requirements as applicable
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area following 5S or similar practices
  • Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to meet production goals
  • Meet productivity, quality, and schedule requirements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in electronics assembly, manufacturing, or quality control
  • Soldering experience (through-hole and/or surface-mount components)
  • Familiarity with IPC standards or ESD procedures
  • Experience using basic electronic test equipment

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training or coursework in electronics or manufacturing preferred
  • Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude considered

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25-50 pounds as required
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and fine motor tasks
  • Visual acuity sufficient for close-up inspection and detailed assembly

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing or production floor environment
  • Exposure to electronic equipment, tools, and materials
  • May require use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
